Turquoise water of the Blue Pond in Biei, Hokkaido, with trees growing straight in the middle of it makes the place look otherworldly. Still, the pond is real and it�s gathering popularity among tourists.

Scientists don�t know exactly what gives the Blue Pond its incredible aquamarine color, but one of the possible explanations is that aluminum rich water from the river nearby creates a colloid � a solution of dispersed microscopic particles � that reflects sunlight in a peculiar way.
